Head of Alternative Investments

About the role

As Head of Alternative Investments at Range, you will own and build the alternative investments strategy and platform, designing investment philosophy, sourcing opportunities, and deploying billions of dollars of AUM for members.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead Range’s alternative investments strategy across private equity, credit, real estate, hedge funds, venture and other alternatives.
• Source, conduct due diligence, and select managers/funds, building relationships with top‑tier general partners.
• Oversee capital deployment at scale, managing allocation and ongoing management of billions of dollars.
• Drive automation and operational efficiency with Engineering and Product to create scalable workflows for subscriptions, capital calls, distributions and reporting.
• Set strategy and KPIs, using data to monitor performance, exposures and improve outcomes.
• Ensure regulatory and compliance alignment in partnership with Legal and Compliance.
• Hire, mentor and grow a high‑impact investment team as the platform scales.
• Partner cross‑functionally to launch new alternative offerings with operational readiness.

Required profile

• 10+ years experience in alternative investments, private markets or institutional asset allocation, with senior leadership in a high‑growth or tech‑driven environment.
• Deep familiarity with private equity, credit, real estate, hedge funds and other alternatives, including fund structures and due‑diligence processes.
• Proven track record building and scaling alternatives platforms, ideally deploying billions of dollars of AUM.
• Strong network of relationships with general partners, fund managers and platforms.
• Expertise in regulatory and operational considerations specific to alternatives.
• Data‑driven mindset with experience defining KPIs and performance metrics.
• FinTech or startup experience preferred.

Required skills

• Experience with alternative asset classes and fund selection.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance for alternatives.
• Ability to design and implement automated investment workflows.
