Group Exercise Instructor - Spin

About the role

The Group Exercise Instructor leads spin and other group fitness classes at Menino YMCA, creating a safe, enjoyable environment for participants of all skill levels. Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director, you will help members develop healthy habits through engaging instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, and safe group classes, adapting movements to meet diverse health, ability, and cultural needs.
• Answer participant questions, track attendance using MotionVibe software, and celebrate member achievements.
• Maintain knowledge of wellness trends through YUSA courses and external training.
• Build authentic relationships among members and support a inclusive community.
• Follow YMCA policies, respond to emergencies, and resolve member issues professionally.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
• Current certification in Group Exercise from a nationally recognized body (NCCA‑accredited preferred).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to work with adults, youth, seniors, and special populations.

Required skills

• Certifications such as ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, or equivalent.
• Specific format certifications for spin, yoga, Les Mills Body Pump/Combat, etc.
