Group Exercise Instructor

About the role

The Group Exercise Instructor leads safe, enjoyable, and inclusive fitness classes for members of all skill levels at the Waltham YMCA. Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director, you will build community, adapt classes to diverse needs, and promote healthy habits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, and educational group exercise classes while ensuring safety.
• Answer participant questions, track attendance in MotionVibe, and celebrate member achievements.
• Maintain knowledge of wellness trends through YUSA courses and external training.
• Follow YMCA policies, respond to emergencies, and resolve member issues professionally.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
• Current nationally‑certified Group Exercise credential (ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, etc.).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and create an inclusive environment.

Required skills

• Group Exercise certification (e.g., ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA).
• Proficiency with MotionVibe class management software.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
