Associate Director – Aquatics

About the role

The Associate Director – Aquatics supports the Aquatic Director in planning, organizing, budgeting and evaluating aquatic programs at the Waltham YMCA. The role also includes supervising staff, ensuring safety standards, and acting as the Aquatic Director’s representative when absent.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, schedule, train and supervise lifeguard and instructor personnel.
• Develop, oversee and monitor the Aquatics budget with the Aquatic Director.
• Plan and schedule program facilities, class and pool schedules for smooth daily operations.
• Teach and/or guard up to 20 hours per week and assist with member registration and inquiries.
• Maintain records, submit news articles, track aquatic statistics and support special events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• At least two years of experience managing diverse Aquatics programs and pool maintenance.
• YMCA Lifeguarding certification (or Red Cross certification convertible within six months).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
