Patient Resources Worker

About the role

The Patient Resources Worker identifies patients' financial resources, assists with benefit assignments, and completes billing forms to ensure access to medical and mental health services.

Key responsibilities

• Interview patients or their representatives to collect financial and eligibility data and determine program eligibility.
• Enter and access data using local and web‑based systems to evaluate financial eligibility and verify insurance coverage.
• Communicate with patients, relatives, attorneys, employers, agencies, and insurers to clarify policies and complete standardized billing forms.
• Process applications for reduced‑cost programs such as ATP and UMDAP and refer complex cases to specialized staff.

Required profile

• Two to three years of experience in public interviewing, clerical work, or financial screening related to health services.
• Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units at an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license or alternative transportation method.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic patient registration systems and web‑based databases.
• Ability to evaluate financial data and complete federal, state, and county forms.
