About the role

The Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations under the direction of a radiologist in both outpatient and inpatient settings, compiling patient history and presenting preliminary findings.

Key responsibilities

  • Select, prepare, and set up ultrasound equipment and transducers according to procedure protocols.
  • Perform timely equipment inspections and calibrations to ensure proper function.
  • Gather relevant patient information and communicate findings clearly to the radiologist.
  • Correct coding issues with referring providers and maintain professional development.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification by ARDMS in Abdominal & OB‑Gyn ultrasound or Cardiac Sonography.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification within two years of hire.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and pathology of abdominal organs.

Required skills

  • Proficiency with Windows‑style computer applications and data entry.
  • Operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment and transducers.
  • Ability to interpret and present preliminary sonographic findings.
