Food Server - High Volume Upscale Hotel

About the role

The Loews Miami Beach Hotel, a reimagined oceanfront resort in South Beach, is hiring a food server. The team supports 790 renovated guestrooms and suites, direct beach access, an oceanfront pool deck, Sea Spa, six restaurants and lounges and more than 65,000 square feet of meeting space.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain current knowledge of all menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, presentation and timing.
• Set up the assigned station with all required supplies (mise en place).
• Greet guests politely and professionally, suggestively sell menu items and record orders accurately, entering them into the POS terminal.
• Coordinate order placement so preparation and delivery flow smoothly, monitor course preparation and inspect food presentation.
• Serve food and beverages professionally, anticipate guests' needs and respond to requests.
• Prepare and present accurate guest checks, collect payment and apply charges to guest accounts via the POS, and complete the end-of-shift revenue report and cash deposit.
• Perform side duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience as a food server in a high-volume, upscale hotel or restaurant.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and lift trays weighing up to 35 pounds repeatedly during a shift.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Thorough knowledge of food terminology, food service techniques and sanitation standards.
• Exceptional guest service skills and basic computer skills.
