Endo Reprocessing Technician – Irregular Part-Time

About the role

The Certified Endoscope Reprocessing Technician is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining a variety of endoscopes and accessories in a hospital setting. This irregular part‑time position supports the reprocessing department at Phelps Health Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Wear required personal protective equipment and follow infection‑control policies.
• Clean, disinfect, dry, and store endoscopes and accessories using manual and mechanical techniques.
• Operate and maintain automatic endoscope reprocessing (AER) equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain QA logs, Cidex OPA solution records, and endoscope tracking documentation.
• Inspect equipment for damage, label instruments for expiration, and coordinate repair or shipping of damaged items.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in endoscope reprocessing to be obtained within 3 months.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lb, and work in a fast‑paced, humid environment.
• Good communication skills and a professional, compassionate attitude.

Required skills

• Endoscope cleaning and high‑level disinfection.
• Use of Cidex OPA and other disinfectant solutions.
• Operation of Automatic Endoscope Reprocessing (AER) equipment.
