EMS Emergency Management Coordinator

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital as an EMS Emergency Management Coordinator. This part‑time position works Monday‑Friday during regular business hours, supporting pre‑hospital care coordination and disaster preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain pre‑hospital protocols in collaboration with the EMS Medical Director and emergency physicians.
• Plan, conduct, and oversee EMS training courses, certification, and continuing education compliance.
• Coordinate with hospital Emergency Management to ensure ED readiness for disaster situations.
• Maintain communication with EMS providers, community leaders, and regional coordinators through newsletters, advisory councils, and direct interaction.

Required profile

• RN licensure and/or Emergency Management Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP) certification.
• Five years of experience in emergency or EMS pre‑hospital care, including leadership or teaching roles.
• Certified Ohio EMS instructor within one year of hire and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor status.
• Knowledge of HICS, NDMS, NIMS, and state emergency management plans.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Emergency Management Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP) certification.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Familiarity with Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), National Disaster Management System (NDMS), and National Incident Management System (NIMS).
