Emergency Room RN (PRN) – Ochsner St. Martin Hospital

About the role

This position provides leadership in patient care within the Emergency Department, using the nursing process and adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards. It is a PRN (as‑needed) role that supports a compassionate, inclusive team delivering exceptional emergency medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care.
• Assess learning needs of patients and families and implement appropriate teaching strategies.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively.
• Use data and evidence‑based practice to drive improvements and optimal outcomes.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification; CPI certification within 30 days of hire; ACLS and PALS certifications within 90 days.
• No prior work experience required; strong computer proficiency and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
