Embedded Software Engineer Internship

About the role

Revel is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to work on the software that connects its high‑performance runtime to physical hardware. You will collaborate with senior engineers on systems software, hardware integration, and low‑level debugging across Linux userspace and industrial devices.

Key responsibilities

• Write and contribute Rust code targeting Linux userspace.
• Develop and maintain Hardware Abstraction Layers (HALs) for sensor, actuator, and controller interfaces.
• Support integration of industrial hardware, including working with register maps and communication protocols.
• Use hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes to diagnose issues.
• Write tests and participate in code reviews to improve software reliability.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Rising Junior or Senior graduating in 2027 or 2028.
• Strong programming fundamentals in C, C++ or Rust.
• Foundational understanding of operating systems, computer architecture, or Linux.
• US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirement).

Required skills

• Rust (preferred), C, C++.
• Linux userspace development.
• Hardware debugging tools (logic analyzer, oscilloscope).
• Communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN.
• Experience with register maps and hardware interfaces.
