Electrical Engineer Intern

About the role

Matrix Design Group is seeking a part‑time Electrical Engineering Intern for the 2027 summer term. The intern will work onsite at the Newburgh, IN headquarters, collaborating with engineers and management on new product development, prototyping, testing, and maintenance of safety‑related electronic and electrical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in product design meetings with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements.
• Assist in developing product specifications, including regulatory research.
• Build and test design prototypes for proof of concept.
• Help design test fixtures for PCB and product assemblies and document test results.
• Create and maintain documentation such as drawings, test procedures, reports, and user manuals.
• Manage time across multiple concurrent projects and log progress.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Effective oral and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Knowledge of analog and digital circuits.
• Basic electrical testing, measurement, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience with lab equipment such as digital multimeters, power supplies, function generators, and oscilloscopes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
