Dispatch Specialist

About the role

Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI), part of Dot Foods, is hiring a Dispatch Specialist in Mt. Sterling, Illinois. You will support the Transportation Department by coordinating with customers, suppliers, drivers and other employees. The position reports to the Transportation Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Schedule appointments with customers by phone, email or web-based formats.
• Communicate with drivers about schedules and work assignments.
• Work with multiple departments and manage a diverse, busy workload.
• Apply lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in the position.

Required profile

• High school diploma, General Equivalency Degree or relevant work experience.
• Excellent mathematical and reading skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Preferred: administrative/clerical experience, effective verbal and written communication, experience in both team and independent settings, exceptional customer service and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Schedule is Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM or Wednesday-Saturday 7AM-6PM; some exposure to a garage/shop environment. The position carries responsibility for workplace safety.
