Dishroom Clerk

About the role

Dishroom Clerks at Hy-Vee's Market Grille department are the backbone of a clean, safe and well-run kitchen. They keep equipment, dishes, utensils and the work area spotless so the rest of the team can focus on serving customers. The role is in a kitchen environment where you stay on your feet throughout your shift, and is paid hourly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers and answering the telephone
• Wash department equipment, utensils, dishes, pots and pans thoroughly and consistently
• Handle food safely and keep the work area clean and neat
• Remove trash in a timely manner and take department garbage to the compactor or designated area
• Work with co-workers as a team and assist in other parts of the store as needed
• Follow Hy-Vee policies, dress standards and personal hygiene rules, and report to work on time

Required profile

• No education requirement; six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred
• Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and to perform simple addition and subtraction accurately
• Ability to follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Physical: frequent standing and walking, exposure to heat and burn hazards, and ability to use sharp knives and blades safely
• Must be 18 years or older; employment is contingent on a pre-employment drug screen

What we offer

• Anticipated hourly starting wage of $13.00 to $16.25 depending on experience
