Director of Global Finance Operations

About the role

The Director of Global Finance Operations leads the international finance and compliance function for Northeastern University, reporting to the AVP of Tax. This senior position ensures accurate, timely financial operations across the University’s entities in the UK, Ireland, India, and Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as operational lead for all international tax compliance, including corporate tax filings, VAT/GST returns, withholding tax, and transfer pricing documentation.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors, legal, treasury, and payroll teams to maintain a global compliance calendar and manage cross‑jurisdictional deadlines.
• Oversee finance‑side compliance with OFAC sanctions, data privacy regulations (UK/EU GDPR), and international IT system requirements.
• Support new entity formation, real‑estate transactions, and insurance coverage in collaboration with risk management and legal functions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, CA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in international finance, tax, or accounting, preferably in higher education, nonprofit or public accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities across geographically distributed teams.

Required skills

• Workday Finance or comparable ERP system.
• Strong knowledge of VAT/GST regimes, transfer pricing concepts, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience with international payroll compliance and OFAC sanctions screening.
• Familiarity with UK GDPR, EU GDPR and data residency requirements.
