Director of Career Services

About the role

The Director of Career Services leads the Career Services Center at Texas A&M University‑Galveston, overseeing career operations, student employment, counseling, and employer outreach. This senior position manages multiple budgets and drives program development for students and alumni.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate career development and placement programs, including coaching, job search support, and annual career fairs.
• Partner with academic deans and faculty to create experiential internships and align them with industry partners.
• Conduct annual program assessments, monitor strategic plans, and implement improvements.
• Supervise staff, manage operational budgets, and maintain employer databases and departmental web resources.
• Engage with marine sciences and maritime industry events to build professional networks and support student outcomes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, Business, Higher Education, or related field.
• At least ten years of relevant experience, preferably with familiarity in marine sciences or maritime industry.
• Ability to multitask, maintain awareness of industry trends, and participate in continuing education.
