Director of Business Development - Commercial Construction

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Director of Business Development to lead revenue generation, client acquisition, and project pursuit strategy within a general contractor environment. This hands‑on leader will build and manage a robust pipeline of commercial construction opportunities across private and public sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a pipeline of commercial construction projects through strategic outreach, networking, and industry relationships.
• Identify and pursue private and public sector opportunities that align with company capabilities and growth objectives.
• Lead client‑facing discussions on project feasibility, budgeting, construction approach, and company capabilities.
• Review RFPs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents to shape competitive pursuit strategies.
• Prepare and present proposals, including scope, pricing strategy, value engineering, and project approach.
• Source and qualify subcontractors, assemble accurate bid pricing, and lead internal bid strategy meetings.
• Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and internal stakeholders to align scope and expectations before award.
• Negotiate contracts and ensure smooth transition from business development to project execution.

Required profile

• 5+ years of business development, sales, or client acquisition experience in commercial construction or general contracting.
• Proven track record of winning commercial and/or government construction projects.
• Established network within commercial construction, real‑estate development, or public‑sector markets.
• Hands‑on experience working with subcontractors and assembling competitive bids.
• Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
