Director of Accounting & Finance

About the role

The Director of Accounting & Finance leads the organization’s financial function, reporting directly to the CFO. This senior position combines strategic financial planning with hands‑on management of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance and reporting across a utility district.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all financial operations, including finance, accounting, utility billing, meter reading, customer service, warehouse, and property maintenance.
• Develop and execute financial strategy to ensure fiscal responsibility and drive performance.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
• Collaborate with the executive team to support business growth and align financial processes with corporate goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; CPA or Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years in a management role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations and corporate finance.
• Proven ability in strategic planning, budgeting and financial analysis.
• Experience in the natural gas or utility sector is a plus.
