Director, External Relations (PR & Analyst Relations)

About the role

Andela is looking for a Director, External Relations to lead its Public Relations (PR) and Analyst Relations (AR) programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Brand, the role sets the strategy, manages external agencies, develops an internal team member and executes programs that build Andela's credibility and visibility globally. It is a fully remote position based in the United States or Canada, with occasional travel.

Key responsibilities

• Public Relations: develop and run the global PR strategy, including executive thought leadership, product announcements, corporate milestones and brand storytelling
• Build relationships with journalists and media covering technology, AI, the future of work, hiring trends and emerging markets
• Manage PR agencies, set goals, review deliverables and hold partners accountable
• Advise the executive team on messaging and briefing materials, oversee press releases, op-eds and media pitches, track earned media and plan crisis communications
• Analyst Relations: build relationships with key analysts (e.g. Gartner), run briefings, inquiries, advisory sessions and analyst days
• Manage participation in vendor evaluations and reports such as Magic Quadrants, Waves and MarketScapes, and negotiate contracts with analyst firms
• Oversee Gartner Peer Insights and similar peer review programs
• Manage one full-time External Relations team member and build processes, playbooks and reporting frameworks
• Work with Marketing, Product, Sales and People, and represent Andela at conferences, analyst summits and media events

Required profile

• 10+ years in corporate communications, PR and analyst relations, with at least 3-5 years at senior manager level
• Proven success running both PR and AR programs, ideally in a B2B technology company or professional services firm
• Experience managing and growing external agencies and direct reports
• Deep relationships with technology media and/or analyst communities
• Experience with major analyst reports such as Gartner Magic Quadrants, Forrester Waves or similar
