Diet Clerk – Irregular Part‑Time (Shifts Vary)

About the role
The Diet Clerk ensures patients receive timely diet screenings, accurate menu selections, and proper food service throughout their hospital stay. This is an irregular part‑time position with varying shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Communicate diet‑related problems, patient preferences, and concerns to nursing and dietitians.
- Maintain patient menus, perform nutritional analysis, and verify diet orders for accuracy.
- Check food temperatures before service and verify tray accuracy during meal periods.
- Pass patient trays, prepare and deliver snacks, and address any diet modifications.
- Complete required paperwork to ensure patients receive correct food items.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; combination of education and experience considered.
- At least six months experience in healthcare food services preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift a minimum of 30 lb during shift.
- Strong mental concentration for repetitive tasks and ability to read and write.
- Willingness to work in warm, noisy, and potentially wet kitchen environments and exposure to infectious materials.
