Dialysis Technician I

About the role

The Dialysis Technician I provides Intermittent Hemodialysis (IHD) care to acutely ill patients in the Fairview Hospital Dialysis Unit, working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Key responsibilities

• Clarify and document prescribed dialysis regimens, notifying the practitioner when deviations occur.
• Administer medications delegated by a RN or physician in accordance with Ohio law.
• Prepare water, dialysate, and perform technical duties with the technologist team.
• Communicate with the water company for issues and arrange disinfection of water rooms.
• Assist with equipment troubleshooting, potassium dosing, and refill dialysis solution jugs.
• Conduct 5S zone responsibilities, teach/support staff, and assist with research projects.
• Monitor and chart the central water system.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current State Certified Dialysis Technician (CDT) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least one year of prior Intermittent Hemodialysis experience.

Required skills

• Certified Dialysis Technician (CDT) skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) proficiency.
• Intermittent Hemodialysis (IHD) operation.
• Knowledge of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) preferred.
• Equipment troubleshooting and water system management.
