Desktop Support Technician

About the role

Join UT Health East Texas as a Desktop Support Technician working day‑shift, full‑time in Tyler, TX. You will provide on‑site technical assistance to end users across hospitals, clinics, and urgent‑care locations, ensuring a reliable desktop environment that supports patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to incoming support calls and requests for a variety of desktop issues.
• Maintain desktop hardware and software standards, including application distribution.
• Set up and prepare technical equipment for deployment.
• Promote and enforce enterprise desktop standards and policies.
• Ensure compliance with Enterprise Change Committee processes.
• Keep the desktop PC environment current with Microsoft security updates and patches.
• Support other IT departments as needed for end‑user equipment.
• Document issue resolutions to aid peer troubleshooting.
• Track and record time spent on projects and daily tasks.
• Travel throughout the market to support hospitals, clinics, urgent cares, and occasionally other markets.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent technical training.
• Experience with desktop operating systems, Windows Server, and Active Directory.
• Proficiency installing and replacing computer peripherals.
• Familiarity with teleconferencing applications such as Cisco Webex, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms and A/V equipment.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet networks, server and PC hardware, network printers, Microsoft Office, Exchange, DNS, and DHCP.
