About the role
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a Cybersecurity Manager to lead its IT protective services, ensuring the security, availability, and resilience of its research data and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee cybersecurity operations, including monitoring, incident response, and threat mitigation.
- Manage access controls and identity management across the organization.
- Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Lead governance, risk management, and compliance initiatives aligned with regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, GCIH, CEH, CISM or CompTIA Security+.
- Minimum 6 years of IT experience with at least 4 years in a cybersecurity leadership role.
- Experience in a research or academic environment is a plus.
Required skills
- Proficiency with SIEM platforms, firewalls, VPNs, data encryption and anti‑malware solutions.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud security on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of vulnerability assessment, penetration testing and ethical hacking.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and regulations (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
- Experience with tools such as Rapid7, Mimecast, ESET, ThreatLocker, DUO, Fortinet, Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, MS 365, Linux/CentOS.
