County Extension Agent – 4-H/Family & Consumer Science

About the role

The County Extension Agent – 4‑H/Family & Consumer Science leads hands‑on, research‑based youth programs across the county, partnering with schools, volunteers, and specialists to deliver educational activities for young people.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the county’s social, economic, and political characteristics and serve as a liaison with community leaders, agencies, and government officials.
• Collaborate with the County Extension Council and Arkansas Extension programs to design and implement 4‑H and family & consumer science initiatives.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders who facilitate 4‑H clubs and related educational activities.
• Coordinate with county schools and research centers to deliver hands‑on learning experiences.
• Promote and evaluate research‑based programming that meets the needs of youth and families.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of local community dynamics and extension services.
• Experience working with youth programs, 4‑H clubs, or family & consumer science education.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with volunteers, educators, and stakeholders.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Commitment to delivering research‑based, high‑quality programs.
