County Extension Agent – 4-H/Family & Consumer Science

About the role

The County Extension Agent for 4‑H and Family & Consumer Science leads hands‑on, research‑based youth programs within the county. Working closely with schools, volunteers, and specialists, the agent supports 4‑H clubs and educational activities that benefit youth and families.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and deliver 4‑H and Family & Consumer Science programs in partnership with county schools and community partners.
• Recruit, train and supervise volunteer leaders to sustain club activities and events.
• Serve as a liaison between the university extension service, local government agencies, and community organizations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Arkansas Extension programs and county demographic, economic, and political conditions.
• Collaborate with the County Extension Counselor and other specialists to integrate resources and expertise.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the social, economic and political landscape of the county.
• Experience working with youth, schools, and volunteer groups.
• Excellent communication and outreach abilities.
• Commitment to research‑based, community‑focused extension work.
