Cook I - Preston's

About the role

Loews Miami Beach Hotel, a reimagined oceanfront resort in South Beach, is hiring a Cook I for its Preston's restaurant. The hotel supports 790 guestrooms and suites, direct beach access, an oceanfront pool deck, Sea Spa, six restaurants and lounges, and more than 65,000 square feet of meeting space.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and organize the work area with all necessary supplies and equipment
• Receive, inspect and rotate food products to ensure fresh, high-quality ingredients
• Prepare and store raw food products properly, following standardized recipes and portion control guidelines
• Plate foods according to presentation guidelines and serve them promptly, notifying the supervisor of delays
• Monitor refrigeration and holding temperatures, clean and sanitize work surfaces, and wash hands frequently
• Use knives, slicers, mixers, choppers and grinders safely, and report equipment malfunctions or hazards to the supervisor
• Notify the steward of needed clean dishes and return utensils to the pot wash area
• Clean and break down the work area, turn off cooking equipment and secure the kitchen at the end of each shift
• Follow food sanitation standards, safety regulations, hotel policies and uniform/grooming standards, and attend training sessions

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of cooking experience in an upscale, high-volume hotel or freestanding restaurant, or post-secondary culinary training or certification as "Cook" from a recognized culinary school
• Knowledge of food service sanitation standards and standard kitchen equipment
• Able to stand, stoop, bend and lift up to 35 pounds
• Able to read, write and speak English
• Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
