About the role

Loews Arlington Hotel, part of Loews Hotels & Co., is hiring a Cook 1 (Pool) for its pool kitchen. The hotel supports 888 rooms, five dining venues, pools, spa services and 266,000 square feet of event space, with skybridge access to Live! by Loews.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and organize the work area with all necessary supplies and equipment
• Receive, inspect and rotate food products to ensure fresh, high-quality ingredients
• Prepare and store raw food products properly, following standardized recipes and portion-control guidelines to minimize waste
• Plate foods according to presentation guidelines and serve them promptly, notifying the supervisor of delays
• Follow governmental food sanitation standards, monitor refrigeration and holding temperatures, and keep work surfaces clean and sanitized
• Use knives, slicers, mixers, choppers and grinders safely, and report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor
• Notify stewards of dish and pot needs, return utensils to the pot wash area and inform them of hot items
• Clean and break down the work area at the end of each shift, turn off cooking equipment and secure the kitchen
• Follow teamwork, safety, emergency procedure, hygiene, grooming and recycling standards, and attend hotel meetings and training

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years of cooking experience in an upscale, high-volume hotel or freestanding restaurant, or post-secondary culinary training/certification as Cook with two years of hands-on experience
• Knowledge of food service sanitation standards and standard kitchen equipment
• Able to stand, stoop, bend and lift up to 50 pounds
• English reading, writing and speaking ability
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
