Controller

About the role

The Controller will lead daily accounting operations for a construction, trucking, and oilfield services company, reporting directly to the CFO. This hands‑on role combines people management with detailed financial work.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise accounts payable and billing staff and manage the monthly and annual close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements, review division and job results, and communicate findings to the CFO and operations leaders.
• Oversee job costing, work‑in‑progress reporting, and coordinate billing with project managers.
• Ensure accurate, timely customer billing, handle invoice submissions, and resolve disputes.
• Monitor accounts receivable, vendor reconciliations, and assist with payroll verification for driver commissions.
• Support cash‑flow forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis, and maintain internal controls.

Required profile

• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including monthly close and financial reporting.
• Prior supervisory experience of accounting staff.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience in construction, oilfield services, or trucking preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks Enterprise.
