About the role
Leidos is seeking a Cloud & Compute/Storage Architect to support a large-scale, transformational IT infrastructure program for a federal client. It is onsite/hybrid remote, within the DMV, preferably near Bethesda, MD and Gaithersburg, MD.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as senior technical architect for Compute, Storage and Backup Services across physical, virtual, hybrid and containerized compute in FDA data centers and clouds.
- Own the distributed server strategy (VMware or high-availability clusters) and storage/data management solutions (Backup & Archive, SAN/NAS, file and object storage), including capacity planning and tuning.
- Own backup and recovery architecture aligned with FDA retention and NIST 800-88/FIPS 200 guidance.
- Lead the Container-as-a-Service environment (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker Enterprise Edition, etc.) and the IaaS approach across AWS, Azure and GCP.
- Support development teams with DevSecOps guidance and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Own cloud governance, entitlements and the Dedicated Master Payer Account structure, and architect the Cloud Service Catalog, metering, chargeback and cost forecasting.
- Drive service improvement, reduce vendor costs and ensure compliance with federal mandates and security standards, including audits.
- Mentor engineers and administrators, support Tier 3 incident resolution, and support the transition to managed services.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years in program/operations or service delivery management on large federal IT infrastructure or managed-services contracts; additional experience may substitute for the degree.
- 3-5 years in a senior architect or technical lead role on large federal or commercial environments.
- Hands-on multi-cloud architecture experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and enterprise storage and backup solutions.
- U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
- Preferred: certifications in a second or third cloud, CKA or TIL Foundation, prior FDA/HHS support, FedRAMP experience, and large-scale cloud migration experience.
Required skills
- Server virtualization (VMware) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker)
- Iaas provisioning and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Cloud cost management concepts (metering, tagging, chargeback)
Pay range: $107,900 - $195,050.
