Clinical Scientist Postdoctoral Research Fellow

About the role

The Clinical Scientist postdoctoral fellowship is a two‑year, full‑time position based in Boston, Massachusetts. Fellows work closely with Vertex’s Medical Lead and cross‑functional study teams to support clinical development programs, gaining hands‑on experience in trial design, execution, and data interpretation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the clinical liaison for cross‑functional teams, supporting study start‑up, safety monitoring, and close‑out activities.
• Assist the Medical Lead with medical monitoring reports, safety reviews, site interactions, and preparation of tables, figures, and listings.
• Provide analytical support for clinical trial data, including safety and efficacy assessments.
• Support Data Monitoring Committees, prepare updates, and facilitate meetings.
• Contribute to clinical documents such as protocols, study reports, Investigator’s Brochures, and informed consent forms.
• Lead interactions with internal and external stakeholders, and help organize investigator and advisory board meetings.
• Prepare scientific material for conference presentations or publications.

Required profile

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE‑accredited institution.
• Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts.
• Strong interest in a career at Vertex and excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain professional integrity.
