Clinical Coordinator – Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Services

About the role

The Clinical Coordinator leads sterile compounding services at Akron General Hospital, ensuring compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, Joint Commission, and state pharmacy regulations. The role balances regulatory oversight with hands‑on sterile compounding support.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee sterile compounding operations to meet USP <797> requirements across inpatient, outpatient, and infusion locations.
• Maintain regulatory readiness for Joint Commission, Board of Pharmacy, and other inspections.
• Coordinate competency assessments, media fill tests, and training for pharmacists, technicians, and residents.
• Develop and manage quality‑assurance programs, environmental monitoring, and clean‑room certification.
• Investigate compliance variances and drive quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Provide staffing coverage for sterile compounding sites as needed.

Required profile

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an AACP‑accredited university.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (or eligibility within 90 days).
• Board‑Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist (BCSCP) or ASHP sterile compounding certification within 6 months of hire.
• Post‑graduate year 1 or 2 residency plus 1–5 years of relevant pharmacy experience, or a minimum of 5 years experience in sterile compounding.
