Chief Engineer

About the role

The Loews Arlington Hotel, a large resort and meetings venue in Arlington's sports district serving 888 rooms, five dining venues, pools, spa services and 266,000 square feet of event space, is looking for a hands-on Chief Engineer. The role partners with the Complex Director of Engineering to keep the property running at its best, guides the engineering team, oversees preventative maintenance programs and champions operational excellence. Key responsibilities

• Maintain optimal staffing levels and oversee daily workflows
• Assign tasks, review completed work orders and conduct inspections
• Resolve maintenance-related guest concerns with department heads
• Drive preventative maintenance programs and support engineers in troubleshooting equipment
• Coordinate training and supervise daily operations, including safety and cleanliness standards
• Manage inventory of storeroom and maintenance supplies
• Attend hotel meetings and assist the Director of Engineering with energy monitoring, equipment upkeep and supply management
• Oversee administrative functions such as payroll processing, attendance tracking, corrective actions and performance reviews
• Ensure adherence to key control, tool control and security protocols, and attend mandatory training and meetings

Required profile

• Proven track record in engineering or facilities management, with hands-on leadership and technical expertise preferred
• 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Chief or Chief Engineer in a hotel or hospitality environment
• Leadership, management and clear communication skills
• Physical ability to stand, walk, work on ladders and lift 50+ pounds regularly

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, life safety systems and energy management
• Reading and interpreting architectural and blue-line drawings
• Understanding of OSHA regulations, equipment operations and maintenance protocols
• Experience with computer-based management systems
