Certified Respiratory Therapist

About the role

Ochsner Health seeks a Certified Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, including oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation.
• Draw, analyze and report arterial blood gases and EKGs.
• Educate patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Document all clinical information and maintain professional certifications.
• Attend staff meetings and perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Associate's Degree required.
• Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist and certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Computer proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data entry.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
