Certified Pharmacy Technician – Full Time

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join its SMH team in Slidell. The role involves delivering medications, maintaining dispensing equipment, and supporting pharmacists in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver medications to designated areas under close supervision, following detailed policies and procedures.
• Refill and maintain automated dispensing machines, price manual orders, and manage inventory.
• Enter patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system, review physician orders, and flag any discrepancies.
• Compound IV admixtures and other preparations using aseptic technique.
• Perform clerical duties such as typing, answering phones, filing, and greeting staff at the pharmacy window.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by the state Board of Pharmacy.
• At least 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Ability to travel between facilities and work a flexible schedule (including nights, weekends, holidays, on‑call).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style computer applications and data entry.
• Computer‑driven pharmacy order entry and label printing.
• Operation of standard pharmacy and office equipment.
