Buyer

About the role

The Buyer negotiates the purchase of equipment, supplies and services within authorized limits, processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders using system software and leads customer-focused special projects. The role requires familiarity with purchasing contract terms, the RFP process and bid analysis. It is staffed for normal weekly and monthly cyclicality, with daily orders from DC90 and Apple flowing into inventory.

Key responsibilities

• Process and manage purchase orders, requisitions and receiving transactions, and resolve PO, receipt, invoice, credit and inventory discrepancies with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Manage RMA processing and reconciliation in Oracle to keep order and inventory records accurate.
• Maintain and distribute open order, backorder and operational reports to support inventory planning, business performance and customer commitments.
• Partner with Order Management, Customer Service, Accounts Payable, Logistics and suppliers to resolve escalations.
• Support inbound inventory, device order processing and fulfillment, and execute expedited and standard PO requests within service-level expectations.
• Provide operational support during high demand, business-critical events and emergency procurement, including limited after-hours support; remote support for weekend POs on an emergency basis.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement efficiency, inventory accuracy, reporting and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance.
• At least 3 years of buying and procurement-related experience.
• Experience investigating and resolving transactional discrepancies in ERP systems.
• Ability to respond urgently to critical business needs and to work with changing daily demands.
• Effective verbal and written skills, and above-average telephone, judgment, initiative, problem-solving, collaboration and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, reporting and data analysis.
• Knowledge of purchasing terms, concepts, processes and procedures.
• Oracle/MyBuy system experience.
