About the role
The Billing Clerk I supports medical billing operations by processing payments, generating reports, and handling patient account inquiries.
Key responsibilities
- Process patient payments and third‑party explanation of benefit statements.
- Run and verify daily close reports and rebill third‑party reports.
- Submit secondary third‑party billings and respond to patient account questions.
- Assist with reviewing fee slips for coding accuracy and maintain billing files.
- Perform collection activities, print and mail notification letters, and monitor delinquent accounts.
- Complete training to become a Certified Application Counselor and help uninsured patients with insurance enrollment.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year recent experience in an office or accounting setting.
Required skills
- Technically proficient computer skills.
- Familiarity with common office equipment such as copier, fax, and printer.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
