Banquet Cook I

About the role

Loews Miami Beach Hotel, a reimagined oceanfront resort in South Beach, is hiring a Banquet Cook I. The hotel supports 790 guestrooms and suites, direct beach access, an oceanfront pool deck, Sea Spa, six restaurants and lounges, and more than 65,000 square feet of meeting space.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and organize the work area with all necessary supplies and equipment.
• Receive, inspect and rotate food products to ensure fresh, high-quality ingredients.
• Prepare and store raw food products properly and follow standardized recipes.
• Follow portion control guidelines, minimize waste and plate foods according to presentation guidelines.
• Monitor finished product so food is served promptly and notify the supervisor of delays.
• Follow governmental food sanitation standards and monitor refrigeration and holding temperatures.
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces, wash hands frequently and use kitchen equipment safely.
• Notify stewards of dish needs and return utensils to the pot wash area.
• Clean and break down the work area at the end of each shift and complete closing tasks.
• Follow teamwork, safety, emergency procedure and grooming standards, and attend hotel meetings and training.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of cooking experience in an upscale, high-volume hotel or freestanding restaurant, or post-secondary culinary training/certification as "Cook" with two years of hands-on experience.
• Knowledge of food service sanitation standards and standard kitchen equipment.
• Able to stand, stoop, bend and lift up to 50 pounds; able to read, write and speak English.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
