Autonomous Systems Electrical Engineer

About the role

Carnegie Robotics is seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop and integrate autonomous vehicle systems across a range of platforms, from commercial equipment to military vehicles. You will collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to deliver robust, safety‑critical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop system requirements and integration strategies for autonomous platforms.
• Select and specify electrical hardware, including sensors and computing systems, to enable autonomy.
• Perform system‑level design, create documentation, and work with technicians and software engineers to test and deploy vehicles.
• Support projects through all technical readiness levels, from prototypes to volume manufacturing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience implementing autonomy on vehicles.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Experience with LIDAR, radar, cameras, wheel encoders, and computing systems.
• Proficiency with vehicle communication buses such as CAN Bus and Ethernet.
• Ability to produce design documentation (requirements, test specs, hardware specs).
• Strong analytical and testing skills for safety‑critical designs.
