CNC Machinist

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to perform fabrication processes for ultra‑precision optical components at its Boulder, CO facility. The role involves operating, programming, and troubleshooting CNC equipment to meet internal and external customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate CNC milling, turning, and multi‑axis machines, selecting appropriate tools and abrasive materials.
• Modify existing CNC programs or write new ones, testing for accuracy using SurfCam, G‑code, and macro variable programming.
• Measure, inspect, and test completed parts with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and optical comparators to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Maintain equipment, follow PPE and safety protocols, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred) with 3+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience in setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC milling, turning, or multi‑axis machines.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work with precision measurement tools.

Required skills

• SurfCam programming software
• CNC G‑code programming

• Operation of manual machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, etc.)
• Precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
