Assistant Professor of Biochemistry (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position starting August 2027. The role combines independent research, teaching, and service within a vibrant R1 research environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an externally funded research program in biochemistry/biophysics, including computational approaches.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, typically one course per semester.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and provide student advising.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a related field earned by the start date.
• At least one year of post‑doctoral experience.
• Evidence of potential for high‑quality teaching and mentorship.
• Demonstrated ability to secure external research funding.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of biochemistry, biophysics, or computational biochemistry.
