Advanced Practice Provider – Medical ICU Night Shift

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking a part‑time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Clinical Nurse Specialist) to join the Medical ICU night team. The provider will work 12‑hour night shifts, supporting critically ill adult patients under the supervision of an attending intensivist.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ICU rounding and serve as Rapid Response Team leader.
• Conduct invasive procedures such as intubations, central line and arterial line insertions.
• Obtain and interpret labs, radiology, and other diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe and monitor medications in accordance with state licensing and Cleveland Clinic policies.
• Educate patients and families about disease processes, treatments, and medication side effects.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds and ensure continuity of care.

Required profile

• National certification as a PA, NP, or CNS with current state licensure.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or PA program; MSN required for APRNs within 3 years of hire.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, NRP, or ATLS as required by the unit.
• Credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and hospital governing body.

Required skills

• Interpretation of laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic data.
• Medication prescribing and monitoring.
• Use of electronic health record systems for documentation and order entry.
