Advanced Practice Provider – Inpatient Neurosurgery (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) joins the inpatient Neurosurgery team at Akron General Medical Center, delivering evidence‑based care for patients with traumatic, vascular, oncologic, degenerative and other neurosurgical conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient care, including evaluation, daily rounding, discharge planning and coordination of multidisciplinary care.
• Manage neurosurgical consultations, Level I trauma response, bedside procedures and ensure continuity of care without operating‑room or call responsibilities.

Required profile

• Experience in Neurosurgery, Neurocritical Care, Trauma, Emergency Medicine or Critical Care, preferably in a Level I Trauma Center or Comprehensive Stroke Center.
• National certification as an Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA or CNS) with appropriate state licensure and credentialing.

Required skills

• Procedural competency consistent with institutional privileging.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as required.
• Ability to prescribe and monitor medications within scope of practice.
