Advanced Practice Provider – Hematology Oncology Inpatient

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is expanding its inpatient Hematology Oncology team at Akron General Medical Center. This Advanced Practice Provider will manage new consults and follow‑ups for patients in the inpatient setting, working day shifts from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain comprehensive medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order/interpret laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic tests.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members during rounds and care planning.
• Prescribe and monitor medications in accordance with state licensure and Cleveland Clinic policies.
• Educate patients about their disease, treatment options, and medication side effects.
• Participate in quality monitoring, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited APRN program (MSN required) or an A.R.C. approved Physician Assistant program (Master’s degree required) or Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
• Current state licensure as NP, PA, or CNS with national certification.
• Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, or Advanced Trauma Life Support as required by the work setting.
• DEA registration (if prescribing) and credentialing by the Medical Executive Committee.
