Advanced Practice Provider (CNS/Neonatal NP) – Neonatal ICU

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Neonatal ICU team. This advanced practice provider will deliver expert clinical guidance, lead quality initiatives, and support education for nursing staff, ensuring high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced neonatal environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical expert and resource for Neonatal ICU nursing staff.
• Promote and implement evidence‑based practice to improve patient outcomes.
• Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and performance improvement projects.
• Provide education, mentorship, and professional development for nurses.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize care delivery.
• Develop, review, and update clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.

Required profile

• Strong clinical expertise in a neonatal setting.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Passion for improving nursing practice, patient outcomes, and staff development.
• Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist with relevant neonatal ICU experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as applicable.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Advanced assessment and diagnostic skills.
