Accounting Clerk – AP & AR

About the role

A well‑established shared services company supporting manufacturing and construction businesses is seeking an organized, detail‑oriented Accounting Clerk to join its finance team in Cedar Rapids. Working under the Controller, you will manage both accounts payable and receivable for multiple companies while providing general office support.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable: review invoices, code expenses, and prepare payments for several entities.
• Handle accounts receivable: create invoices, record payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Maintain vendor and customer records, including collection of W‑9 forms.
• Support month‑end close, account reconciliations, and audit preparation.
• Answer vendor, customer, and internal inquiries, resolving invoice and payment discrepancies.
• Open and route mail, log checks, prepare bank deposits, and organize accounting records.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on experience with combined AP and AR functions.
• Ability to manage recurring deadlines across multiple companies.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate data‑entry skills.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Experience with Sage 300 and QuickBooks Online (highly preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office software.
