Surgical Technician – Full Time

About the role

Join Ochsner’s Slidell Memorial East Campus as a Surgical Technician, providing essential support for endoscopy and surgical procedures. This full‑time position ensures equipment availability, assists in scrubbing, and contributes to high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organize equipment and supplies based on the surgery schedule.
• Scrub for surgical procedures and assist with endoscopy cases.
• Perform direct patient care duties under RN supervision.
• Communicate patient care information to patients, families, and team members.
• Adapt to rapid changes in unit census, patient acuity, and resource availability.

Required profile

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent military program (online programs not accepted) or 5 years of surgical technologist experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.

Required skills

• Expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques.
• Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and related instruments.
• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication for patient care coordination.
