About the role

In collaboration with staff radiologists, the Sonographer independently performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures, ensuring high‑quality imaging and patient safety. The role also includes mentoring junior staff and students.

Key responsibilities

Verify physician orders, operate ultrasound equipment, and perform imaging procedures according to protocol.
Review and transmit diagnostic‑quality images, assist radiologists in guided procedures, and complete quality‑control documentation.
Maintain departmental operations such as inventory, equipment maintenance, and staff scheduling.

Required profile

Completion of a CAHEA‑approved diagnostic medical sonography program.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or eligibility within one year of hire.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

Proficiency with diagnostic ultrasound equipment and radiology information systems.
Knowledge of abdominal anatomy (liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, pancreas) and ability to perform related scans.
