Senior Research Scientist – Molecular Diagnostics

About the role

Bosch’s Research and Technology Center in Sunnyvale is seeking a senior research scientist to lead the development of novel molecular diagnostic technologies. You will translate cutting‑edge academic research into scalable, market‑ready biosensing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, incubate, and translate academic research into functional proof‑of‑concept technologies for molecular diagnostics and biosensing.
• Lead hands‑on development and testing of prototype diagnostic systems, integrating microfluidics, electrochemical sensing, soft electronics, and chip‑scale nanofabrication.
• Collaborate with internal business units, engineering teams, and external academic partners to move early‑stage research into commercial product pipelines.
• Design and execute experiments for single‑molecule detection, assay integration, and sample‑to‑answer cartridge performance.
• Protect innovations through patent filings and contribute scientific publications and technical documentation.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Physics or a related discipline.
• 3‑5 years of industry experience in biotechnology, with a proven track record of translating academic ideas into products.
• Demonstrated expertise in molecular diagnostics, single‑molecule detection, and integrated diagnostic platforms.
