Research Scientist – Molecular Diagnostics

About the role

Join Bosch Research and Technology Center North America in Sunnyvale, CA, to lead cutting‑edge projects in molecular diagnostics and biosensing. You will translate academic breakthroughs into scalable prototype systems and drive them toward commercial products.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, incubate, and translate academic research into functional proof‑of‑concept technologies for molecular diagnostics.
• Lead hands‑on development and testing of prototype diagnostic systems, integrating microfluidics, electrochemical sensing, soft electronics, and chip‑scale nanofabrication.
• Collaborate with internal business units, engineering teams, and external academic partners to transition early‑stage research into product pipelines.
• Design and execute experiments for single‑molecule detection, assay integration, and cartridge performance.
• Protect innovations through patent filings and contribute scientific publications and technical documentation.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Physics, or related discipline.
• 3‑5 years of industry experience in biotechnology, with a proven track record of translating research into products.
• Demonstrated expertise in molecular diagnostics, single‑molecule detection, and integrated diagnostic platforms.
