Registered Nurse Supervisor – Emergency Department (Days)

About the role

The Registered Nurse Supervisor in the Emergency Department provides direct patient care while overseeing a team of nurses and technicians. This day‑shift position combines clinical expertise with operational coordination to ensure high‑quality, efficient emergency services.

Key responsibilities

• Treat critical injuries, allergic reactions, and trauma, responding quickly to medical emergencies.
• Organize, plan, supervise, and coordinate patient care within the unit.
• Supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned nurses and patient care technicians.
• Promote evidence‑based nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and supply availability to support daily operations.
• Resolve conflicts on shift and collaborate with unit leadership as needed.
• Partner with quality, safety, and patient experience teams to uphold standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN (required for Ochsner Magnet facilities).
• Current RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least 1 year of RN experience (or 2 years as an LPN in acute care) with a preference for 2 years of RN experience.
